Corbin Spells

Mechanical Engineer with Software Experience.

Profile

About me

I am a Mechanical Engineer that is passionate about learning and further developing myself. Much of my career I have been fortunate to gain several experierences through vastly different internships and school projects.

I hope to continue learning and working hands on with projects. Research and development has been my passion and I would like to continue to create tommorows technologies.

Careers

Lockheed Martin IS&GS

Software Developer for the Threat Modeling System

May 2015 to present

Investigated and developed optimization algorithms to speed up the convergence of complex missile scenarios and solve difficult multidimensional “black box” problems.

Implimented the optimization algorithms found during the investigation using C++ for use in the Trajectory Generator (TG).

Analyzed and fixed security flaws in the TG code using Fortify.

Exploration and Space Technologies (EaST)

Graduate Research Assistant

May 2012 to present

Designed and constructed a stereoscopic position measurement system capable of estimating the position of targets with less than 1 percent error at a ranges up to 250 meters.

Developed and Optimized an image processing algorithm which detects features within stereoscopic image pairs to increase accuracy and speed of the stereoscopic positioning system.

Lockheed Martin IS&GS

Systems Engineering Intern for the Ballistic Missile Defense System Support Engineering Team

Summer 2014

Completed project impact assessments which included customer interfacing, system requirements analysis, and requirements development.

Lockheed Martin IS&GS

Mechanical Engineering Intern for the Missile Defense Integration and Operation Center (MDIOC) Infrastructure Team

Summer 2013

Redesigned a jib hoist mounting system, using a finite element analysis, to provide a safe, cost efficient structure.

Created and maintained accurate riser diagrams of chilled water, hot water, and steam within the MDIOC to ensure that mission critical assests could be found.

Bechtel Defense and Nuclear Security

Mechanical Engineering Intern for the Pueblo Chemical Agent-Destruction Pilot Plant

Summer 2012

Used piping and instrument drawings and evaluated codes and standards, such as ASME and API, to perform calculations and provide support to the re-certification of the OSHA VPP Safety Star Certification.
